Data Storytelling
Storytelling, as the name suggests, is the art of effectively narrating a story to the audience. Data Storytelling is the ability to visualize data and narrate its insights as a story to its audience clearly and effectively. Behind every successful data storytelling, there are 3 key elements that need to be kept in mind:
Direction- Story direction comes from data itself. It determines the flow of our data insights and helps the audience to connect with a meaningful and valuable conclusion.
Visualization- Transforming data into pictorial representations such as graphs, charts, or maps, helps make data insights attractive to the audience and draw conclusions easily.
Narration- Data Narrative is the story commentary that conveys information away from the data. It helps us to give engaging presentations and to deliver greater business values.
Presentations
Connecting with the audience and engaging them with deeper and meaningful conversations is done through Presentations. For a business story to resonate with our target audience, a good plot is important. This plot requires a clear goal with novelty, reliability, and accessibility in the form of a story pitch.
The Presentation can be of 4 types:
Informational (ex. to inform about findings or discoveries)
Instructive (ex. to teach or instruct audience)
Persuasive (ex. to influence the audience about an idea or accept a proposal)
Motivational (ex. to create interest in the audience on topics)
